My latest video looks at the relationship between children’s superhero shows like Power Rangers and other Tokusatsu (e.g. Super Sentai, Kamen Rider) and how effective they are at writing about heroes & hope for the future. I look at the history of tokusatsu (somewhat) before pivoting into rediscovering the joy and wonder that we tend to lose as we get older and our lives get increasingly complex as we learn more about the world, ourselves and all that other complicated stuff.
It’s a love letter to the genre of toku & a reminder to protect the part of me that believes in heroes, humanity & the possibility of a future that changes for the better.
